Churchill Mortgage in Hiring Spree

Churchill Mortgage, which specializes in conventional and federally insured residential mortgages, has hired 16 new staff in Georgia, Michigan, Tennessee, Texas and Virginia.

The privately owned lender with more than 300 employees so far has been offering conventional, FHA, VA and USDA residential mortgages in 31 states.

While many of the largest institutions cut jobs within their lending departments, Churchill is growing along with this increased demand and a renewed appetite for mortgages, says Mike Hardwick, president of Churchill Mortgage.

In 2013 Churchill Mortgage has already added more than 100 new employees to local branches across the country and plans to continue “to aggressively recruit industry professionals” in 2014.

“The National Association of Realtors recently reported that total existing home sales in October were 6% higher than a year ago and that sales have remained above year-ago levels for the past 28 months,” he says.

New hires include loan partner Austin Heithcock, and underwriters Kathy Mendenhall and Shannon Kaiser who have more than two decades of combined industry experience, home loan specialist Cindy Moore, customer care specialist Christina Forster, and administrative coordinator Teresa Maiser.

In its Memphis branch Churchill added home loan specialists Ina Ballard and Gilbert Battle, both industry veterans with 20 years and 40 years of mortgage experience, respectively.

In Houston Sarah Bennett is the lender’s newest assistant vice president.

Other staff was added to expand Churchill’s local presence in its Kennesaw, Ga.; Jackson, Miss.; Herndon, Va.; Lansing, Mich.; and Greenwood, S.C. branches.

“We will continue to actively recruit the industry’s very best,” Hardwick says.
