First American Financial Names Mark Seaton as CFO

As Max Valdes retires after 25 years with the company, First American Financial Corporation is replacing him with Mark Seaton, another veteran of the firm.

The new EVP and chief financial officer began his career with First American in 2006 engaging in different management positions including most recently as senior vice president of finance, and previously in strategic planning, treasury, investor relations and margin improvement.

Prior to joining First American, Seaton worked in private equity and in the investment banking industry.

“His financial markets experience, management and strategic planning skills made him the best choice for the job,” said Dennis Gilmore, chief executive officer of First American Financial Corp.

Valdes will remain with the company until March 2014 to assist with the transition.

He joined First American in 1988 and was elected CFO in 2010. During his 25 years with the company he is credited for streamlining its business operations and making strategic decisions that helped position First American for growth over the last several years.
