Stonegate Mortgage Creates New Division to Aid Consumers

Stonegate Mortgage Corp. announced last week that it has formed a new direct-to-consumer mortgage origination business called Stonegate Direct.

The service will provide a direct line for consumers to speak with mortgage advisors, who can provide access to the company's products and services. The division will be operational 24/7, catering to a wide range of consumers, including those who choose to make their key financial decisions at 3 a.m.

"Delivering a superior customer experience is one of the fundamental components of Stonegate Mortgage's approach to lending," said Jim Cutillo, founder and chief executive officer of the Indianapolis-based company. The division's creation comes in a climate of enhanced scrutiny of mortgage providers following 2008's financial crisis.

Back in December 2013, Stonegate acquired Crossline Capital and its two call center operations located in Lake Forest, Calif., and Scottsdale, Ariz. The new unit is part of the formal integration of Crossline Capital into Stonegate. In addition, Stonegate is opening a call center in Dallas, though Stonegate Direct's offices will be located in Southern California. Tim Elkins, who prior to the acquisition had been Crossline Capital's CEO, is the executive vice president of Stonegate Direct.
