TD Bank to Expand Mortgage Lending Team by 80%

TD Bank USA plans to hire additional mortgage lenders as it seeks to expand its mortgage business in the Northeast U.S.

The $235 billion-asset TD Bank will hire 79 mortgage loan officers and create a new leadership position group, whose members will carry the title managing producer, according to a Monday news release. TD Bank's hiring would increase the size of its mortgage lending team by about 80%.

"By boosting the number of mortgage loan officers across our key markets we'll be able to meet the housing market demand next year," Kevin Gillen, TD Bank's general manager for residential mortgage, said in the release.

TD Bank plans to focus the expansion of its mortgage business in the New York area, as well as in Boston, Philadelphia, Washington and other parts of New England.
