Fannie Mae increased its issuance of multifamily mortgage-backed securities in the third quarter, according to data released Wednesday.
The government-sponsored enterprise issued approximately $9.1 billion in securities backed by multifamily loan acquisitions, nearly doubling its volume from the previous quarter.
"The third quarter presented a great opportunity to provide increased liquidity to the market," said Hilary Provinse, a senior vice president at Fannie Mae, in a press release Wednesday.
Additionally, Fannie resecuritized $3.1 billion through its Guaranteed Multifamily Structures programs and sold $3.3 billion in multifamily securities from its portfolio, it said in the release.
