Multifamily MBS issuances by Fannie Mae in 2014 increased slightly from the year before, the government-sponsored enterprise said Thursday.

Fannie Mae issued $28.6 billion in multifamily MBS during 2014, a slight uptick from the $28.5 billion issued during 2013. In addition, the company resecuritized $12 billion through its GeMS program, its largest year ever.

In the fourth quarter new multifamily MBS business totaled $11.4 billion, with the GeMS program rescuritizing $2.5 billion of MBS and Fannie Mae Capital Markets sold $3.4 billion from its portfolio.

"We had hundreds of investors — including dozens of new investors — participate in multifamily MBS and GeMS agency CMBS."
