Foreclosures Drop 22% in August: CoreLogic

Foreclosures declined 22% in August compared to a year ago, according to data released Thursday by CoreLogic.

The Irvine, Calif., research firm said that 45,000 foreclosures were completed in August. Compared to the previous month, foreclosures increased slightly, by 1.1%.

"The number of foreclosures completed during the last 12 months is at the lowest level since November of 2007," said Anand Nallathambi, CoreLogic's president and chief executive, in a press release announcing the findings.

Additionally, the firm said that there were 629,000 homes in some stage of foreclosure in August, a decrease of 32.8% from the previous year.
