Foreclosure auction of boxer Vinny Paz's house cancelled

Former boxing champion Vinny Paz apparently won a reprieve on the auctioning of his Warwick, R.I. house.

An auction of the house at 54 Tivoli Court, which had been scheduled for May 30, has been cancelled, according to the website of Sullivan & Sullivan Auctioneers. The website doesn't explain the reason for the cancellation.

Paz's three-bedroom house has been subject to various liens, including a lien from the Internal Revenue Service and the Rhode Island Department of Taxation.

A foreclosure notice said, "The property will be auctioned subject to the redemption rights in favor of the Internal Revenue Service by Virtue of Notice of Federal Tax Lien..."

The original principal sum of the July 2001 mortgage for the property was $212,000 with interest when it was assigned to Nationstar Mortgage in February, according to a Warwick city record.

Paz, at one time known as Vinny Pazienza, is a former five-time boxing champion known as the Pazmanian Devil.
