The work force that landed at the New Jersey bank is evenly divided between loan officers and support services personnel.

The new Sun employees will serve New Jersey customers from operations centers in Florham Park and Turnersville.

Thomas X. Geisel, president and CEO of Sun National Bank, said, “We are already seeing the benefit of expanding our team, having achieved a 132% increase over the prior quarter in home mortgage originations."

The bank said it saw an opportunity from the closure of MetLife Home Loans to create jobs for mortgage professionals who understood the New Jersey market.

Earlier in the year MetLife closed its forward lending business, cutting roughly 4,200 workers in the process. Since that time hundreds of LOs have landed elsewhere.
