The Washington law firm said Yingling's experience in banking regulation and legislation will be a "tremendous asset" to its clients.

Yingling served 25 years at ABA as a lobbyist and trade group executive.

"Covington has an outstanding financial services practice," Yingling said.  "I look forward to working with Covington's talented team of lawyers to help the firm's financial institution clients navigate the new landscape" created by the Dodd-Frank Act.

ABA has selected former Oklahoma governor and CEO of the American Council of Life Insurers Frank Keating to succeed Yingling as its new president and CEO starting January 1.
