Courson Takes Job with NAHB Affiliate

Former Mortgage Bankers Association chief executive John Courson is the new president and CEO of the Home Builders Institute, the workforce development arm of the National Association of Home Builders.

He replaces Frederick Humphreys, who is retiring at the end of the year after holding those positions at HBI for 11 years.

Courson's initial priorities at HBI will be to identify new revenue streams and create programs in areas such as training, mentoring, curriculum development and job placement services.

Courson served as CEO of MBA from January of 2009 through March of this year.

Before that, Courson was the president and chief executive of Central Pacific Mortgage, Folsom, Calif.; while running this company he was chairman of MBA in 2003.

The next year, he was appointed to the California Housing Finance Agency, where he would serve as chairman from 2004 through 2008.
