The Conference of State Bank Supervisors Tuesday promoted Bill Matthews to executive vice president of the group, which represents state banking regulators throughout the U.S.
Previously, Matthews served as senior vice president of CSBS and president and CEO of the State Regulatory Registry LLC, a subsidiary that operates the Nationwide Mortgage Licensing System and Registry on behalf of state mortgage regulators.
Matthews will continue to oversee the operation, development, and enhancement of NMLS as it expands into other areas of non-depository supervision beyond the mortgage industry.
As of year-end 2010, all state regulatory agencies were utilizing NMLS to license their supervised residential mortgage providers.
According to new figures, 483,000 individual mortgage LOs, and 28,000 non-depositories and banks are either licensed or registered with NMLS.
