The move adds about 100 loan officers who produced $1 billion over the past 12 months, bringing Envoy's originator headcount to roughly 240 and projected annual funded volume to $4 billion. The deal was announced internally Monday and will close by the end of the month, the company confirmed.

The news was first reported by HousingWire. Financial details were not disclosed.

"We are ecstatic to welcome Mason-McDuffie Mortgage into the Envoy Mortgage family," President Jesse Passafiume said in a statement. "Partnering with MasonMac allows us to expand our mortgage footprint and work and grow with some of the best talent in the mortgage industry as we transform the consumer experience through proprietary tech and top mortgage professionals."

After shedding nearly 30% of its workforce in 2022, Envoy has leaned into a referral- and affiliate-based business model through strategic investments. The company does not expect layoffs as part of the transaction and plans to keep some of MasonMac's business and team names, according to Passafiume.

MasonMac, which was founded in 1887, will retain a team focused on portfolio retention and its approximately $250 million in mortgage servicing rights. In 2025, MasonMac generated $1.1 billion worth of originations, according to IEmergent analysis of Home Mortgage Disclosure Act data.

Meanwhile, Houston-based Envoy produced just over $2 billion over the same 12 months.

"Envoy is an incredible success story in a market that's had very few of them," MasonMac President Chuck Iverson said in the release. "Partnering with MasonMac allows us to expand our mortgage footprint and work and grow with some of the best talent in the mortgage industry as we transform the consumer experience through proprietary tech and top mortgage professionals."

Envoy is the sister company of real estate platform PLACE, which recently purchased subsidiaries divested by Radian Group, including the latter's title agency and underwriting lines. PLACE currently owns a small title business for residential resale transactions.

"Radian Title Services moves PLACE deeper into the title and settlement business, and opens us up to serving large lenders and single-family rental investors," CEO Ben Kinney previously told National Mortgage News.

New American Funding adds to its services

In another industry development, independent mortgage bank New American Funding announced top Texas loan officers Shane Masterman and Christian Johnson have joined the company as Cantera Home Lending. With nearly five decades of combined experience, the two have originated more than $2 billion in residential mortgage loans throughout their career, the lender said in a press release Thursday.

The Cantera team will operate on New American's lending platform and offer a range of loan programs, including conventional, Federal Housing Administration, jumbo, government, portfolio, physician, construction, renovation, reverse and specialty products.

Cantera combines the responsiveness and accountability of an independent boutique with the product suite, operations and finances of a top mortgage lender, New American said.

"As two of the top 1% of mortgage originators in the nation and among the most respected originators in North Texas, Shane and Christian have built exceptional businesses by putting their customers and referral partners first," said Pat Bolan, chief production officer at New American.

Johnson has more than 25 years of industry experience and specializes in first-time homebuyers, move-up buyers, luxury homeowners and real estate investors, with expertise across Department of Veterans Affairs, FHA, jumbo and specialty loan programs. Masterman has been in the industry for more than 24 years, working on jumbo, conventional, FHA, VA and complex lending solutions for luxury homebuyers and real estate investors, according to the release.
