Housing Scorecard: More Relief, Recovery Still Needed

The Obama administration’s housing scorecard continues to show some optimism that its programs have helped provide sustainable foreclosure relief in examining compiled housing and program indicators, but it also continues to caution that “the overall recovery remains fragile.”

“Despite the positive news, we have important work ahead since there are so many families and individuals still struggling,” said HUD deputy assistant secretary for economic affairs Kurt Usowski in a press release about the report.

Data compiled and highlighted in the report include the FHFA purchase-only home price index, which was up 6.5% from a year ago; the Case-Shiller 20-city index, which was up 8.1% over the same period; and the Home Affordable Modification Program, which has given more than 1.1 million homeowners a permanent mod.
