NMI Holdings Inc., the parent company of National Mortgage Insurance Corp., has promoted COO Claudia Merkle to the new role of president.

She joined National MI in 2012 as senior vice president of underwriting fulfillment and risk operations, was promoted to executive vice president of insurance operations in 2013, and appointed chief operating officer in 2016.

Merkle has over 25 years of experience in mortgage banking, mortgage insurance, business development and operations, and has served with PMI Mortgage Insurance Co., Meridian Mortgage and Wachovia.

William Mueller has joined Equator as national sales director. He is based in Irvine, Calif.

He spent the past seven years as a national sales representative for RES.NET and US Real Estate Services, and prior to that he was CEO of iServe Real Estate.

NewDay USA has named Gary Ort, the former president of Texas Capital Bank's mortgage finance division, to its board of advisors.

Ort, who retired from Texas Capital Bank in June 2017, has over 45 years of financial services experience, including positions in mortgage banking production, servicing and operations.

Visionet Systems Inc. has hired Dylan Hoyt, a 22-year veteran of the mortgage industry, to serve as vice president of underwriting and client relations.

Hoyt has held management roles for Bear Stearns, Goldman Sachs, and more recently with Texas Capital Bank as vice president of warehouse lending.

Before that, he served as a DE underwriter for government loans, handled credit due diligence for a Goldman Sachs conduit, supervised post-closing for MetLife and served as vice president of credit risk.

Assurant Inc. has appointed Marc Hinkle as managing director of Assurant Valuations. He joined the Assurant Valuations team in November 2016 as senior vice president.

Hinkle has over 20 years of mortgage banking experience including valuations, property preservation and all aspects of mortgage loan servicing.

Prior to joining Assurant, he held positions with Mortgage Contracting Services and PHH Mortgage Services.

Private equity firm LLR Partners has engaged Cary Burch, a seasoned software executive in the legal, mortgage and financial services industries, as a senior operating advisor.

He was most recently the chief innovation officer at Thomson Reuters and held CEO and COO roles at the company's legal enterprise software company, Thomson Reuters Elite.

Prior, Burch was the chairman and CEO of LSSI, an SaaS regulatory compliance and enterprise accounting software company acquired by Constellation Software in 2010.

Pacific Union Financial has named Michael Royer executive vice president of wholesale lending. He will be based in the company's Dallas headquarters.

Royer brings to the company more than two decades of industry experience with a background building wholesale teams in the mortgage industry.
