The international law firm Greenberg Traurig LLP said that Vivek K. Chavan has joined its Silicon Valley office as a shareholder in its real estate practice.
Prior to joining Greenberg Traurig, Chavan was with Morrison Foerster LLP.
His experience is concentrated in the areas of acquisitions, financings, development, operation and disposition of timberland, residential, commercial and industrial real estate assets.

Kilroy Realty Corp. appointed Mike Sanford as vice president in charge of the company’s Northern California and Pacific Northwest regions with responsibilities that include asset management, leasing, acquisitions, development and redevelopment.
Most recently, he served as senior vice president at Lowe Enterprises where he was responsible for new business, including leasing, and commercial development and redevelopment activities in Northern California.
From 2001 to 2007, Sanford served as vice president of development at Equity Office Properties.

The Mortgage Bankers Association appointed Thomas T. Kim as vice president of commercial regulatory policy.
Kim is joining the MBA from Freddie Mac, where he served as associate general counsel.
Prior to Freddie Mac, he served as in-house counsel on legislative, regulatory and financial services policy matters at the Investment Company Institute, the national trade association of the mutual fund industry.
In his new role at the MBA, Kim will manage all activities relating to commercial regulatory issues and will serve as the staff representative to the commercial risk retention task force.
The MBA also promoted Jim Gross to vice president of financial accounting and public policy.
Gross will also continue to be responsible for managing the development and implementation of MBA's strategy on legislative, regulatory and industry issues in the areas of financial accounting, tax policy and bank regulations.
He joined MBA in 2008 from NetBank Inc., where he was chief financial officer.

Formation Capital hired Brian Beckwith as chief executive officer, effective April 18.
Beckwith joins from GE Capital where he had been senior managing director of GE Capital's health care financial services, real estate team.
In his 13 years with GE Capital, he led teams in risk and sales focused on health care services and real estate financing, including developing the European platform for health care debt and real estate equity investing.

Weltman, Weinberg & Reis Co. LPA hired G. Stephen Caravajal Jr. as a new associate.
Caravajal will focus on foreclosure and evictions as he joins the real estate default group in the WWR Chicago office.
With nearly six years of experience in the area of creditors’ rights, he previously represented mortgage lenders and servicers in all aspects of contested mortgage foreclosures, real estate and title disputes and consumer finance litigation.

The Mortgage Partnership Finance Program named Jennifer Burlison as its new senior vice president, national marketing director.
She will focus on launching new product initiatives and a national marketing strategy.
Burlison is well acquainted with the MPF Program, having established and managed the Federal Home Loan Bank of San Francisco's participation in the program for seven years.
Most recently, she worked with Neighborhood Housing Services of America.

Kirkpatrick is currently president and CEO of Kirkpatrick & Co., a merchant banking firm based in Chicago.
In addition to his position at Kirkpatrick & Co., he has a background at major financial institutions, including JPMorgan Chase and First Chicago.

Knight Capital Group Inc. appointed Knight managing directors Robert Lyons and Alan Lhota to co-head the global fixed-income business.
Lyons, who joined Knight in 2010, is a former vice chairman of investment banking at Merrill Lynch where he spent more than 20 years.
Previously at Merrill, he served as global head of capital markets and before that was head of the Americas capital markets.
Previously, Lhota was head of U.S. high yield, distressed and bank loan sales for Knight.
He joined Knight's fixed-income business (formerly Knight Libertas) in June 2009 from RBS Greenwich Capital Markets where he led the high yield team.

CRE Finance Council said that Stephen M. Renna has been named chief executive officer of the association, effective May 1.
Renna brings more than 22 years of experience in the commercial real estate business, holding senior-level positions in legal and policy affairs as well as in trade association management.
Most recently, he served as president of the National Association of Real Estate Investment Managers.
Prior to serving as president of NAREIM, he was senior vice president and counsel for the Real Estate Roundtable, a Washington-based national public-policy organization that represents the commercial and multifamily real estate industry.

Safeguard Properties appointed Michael Greenbaum as vice president of REO, Apryl Seide as general counsel, Jennifer Anspach as director of finance and accounting, and Russ Klein as director of quality control.
Greenbaum was appointed to this newly created executive position to lead all aspects of Safeguard’s REO service line.
Prior to joining Safeguard, he held senior management and executive positions with Erico Accel Inc. and McMaster-Carr.
As a member of the executive team, Seide directs Safeguard’s internal and external legal functions.
She joined Safeguard from Applied Industrial Technologies and previously was in professional practice with Baker & Hostetler LLP.
Anspach joined Safeguard two years ago as accounts receivable manager.
Before joining Safeguard, she was director of sales audit for OfficeMax.
In this newly created management position, Klein leads quality control efforts across all service lines.
He has held positions in operations, process improvement and technology at American Greetings, Diamond Management and Technology Consulting and JPMorgan Chase.
