MISSION VIEJO

Hammerhouse LLC opened a new regional office in Chicago, the company's third in the U.S., which will be managed by John Van Tassel, vice president strategic growth.

Van Tassel assumes his role with seven years of experience in nationwide recruiting of mortgage production professionals.

For the last two years, he worked for Hammerhouse at the company's headquarters in Mission Viejo.

Previously, Van Tassel was part of American Home Mortgage's internal recruiting department focusing on recruiting for the retail, wholesale and correspondent channels.

 

SACRAMENTO

Gov. Edmund G. Brown Jr. appointed Claudia Cappio as executive director of the California Housing Finance Agency.

Cappio comes to the agency with a background in land use planning, project development and administration, including affordable housing.

Over the past 30 years she has served as development director, city planner and major projects and building manager for several local governments in the Oakland-San Francisco Bay Area.

Steven Spears will be staying on as the agency’s chief deputy director.

Spears has over 20 years of experience in public and housing finance and government fiscal management.

He most recently served as CalHFA’s director and has been with the agency since 2006, serving as chief deputy director from January 2006 to December 2008.

 

SANTA ANA

CoreLogic promoted Wes McDaniel to the newly created role of chief appraiser for CoreLogic Valuation Services.

Prior to his promotion, McDaniel served as director of appraisal valuations for CoreLogic Valuation Services, where he led quality control operations.

He joined CoreLogic in 2009 after 17 years with Bank of America/LandSafe Appraisals, where he was responsible for appraisal production in the Western-half of the United States.

CoreLogic also said that Arlene Hyde has joined CoreLogic in a newly created position, senior vice president of strategic relationships for business and information services.

She joins CoreLogic with more than 25 years of experience in mortgage lending and servicing, and most recently was the founder of Hyde House Group, Seattle.

Over the course of her career, Hyde has held executive and line-management positions at JPMorgan Chase, CitiMortgage and Washington Mutual, and her areas of responsibilities have included retail and consumer direct originations, correspondent and wholesale lending, and servicing and default management.

 

SIMI VALLEY

New Millennium Title Group, a wholly owned subsidiary of Williston Financial Group, said that David Wilson will serve as its senior vice president, national sales.

Wilson, who will be based in Atlanta, has 24 years of experience in the mortgage and settlement services industry, most recently serving as VP, sales with Equifax Settlement Services.

Before that, he spent six years with Lender’s First Choice, a national settlement services provider, as its executive vice president and chief marketing officer.

He also spent 17 years with national settlement services provider LSI, most recently as senior vice president of national sales.

NEW ORLEANS

Jones Walker said that Keith Colvin, Susan Tyler and Jeffrey Good have joined the firm.

Colvin and Tyler have joined as special counsel, and Good has joined as an associate. All three attorneys will practice in the firm's real estate practice group in the New Orleans office, and all three joined the firm from McGlinchey Stafford.

Colvin practices in the area of commercial real estate, representing developers, lenders and owners in large developments and real estate projects.

Tyler has experience in banking, commercial finance, and real estate with an emphasis in commercial lending, and has represented lenders and business clients in construction financing, new market and historic tax credit projects, and large developments.

Good has practiced real estate and general business and tax law.

 

MARYLAND

 

ROCKVILLE

Embrace Home Loans named Michael Lyons as branch manager for its Frederick, Md., retail branch.

Lyons brings more than 15 years of account management, strategic business development and mortgage banking experience to the retail branch of Embrace Home Loans.

He has held positions with Countrywide Home Loans, MortgageIT, and most recently, 1st Mariner Mortgage, prior to joining Embrace.

 

ROCKVILLE

Coester Appraisal Group hired Haroon Khalid as its new chief developer and Joseph Bryant as its new national sales director.

Khalid oversees Coester Appraisal Group's technology systems.

He has more than a decade of programming and technology experience and has developed Motorola Droid applications, iPhone applications and proprietary systems for companies.

Bryant is responsible for overseeing and directing the company’s sales and business development efforts.

Prior to his work with Coester Appraisal Group, he worked with SettlementOne Valuation Corp. as vice president of regional sales, and also held positions with Bison Financial Services, Long Island Savings Bank, Prudential Insurance Co., Travelers Mortgage Services and GE Capital Mortgage Insurance Co.

 

NEW JERSEY

 

BAYONNE

REO Allegiance hired Brian Daily to serve as vice president of business development.

He joins REO Allegiance with over 25 years of executive level experience throughout the mortgage industry spanning origination, servicing and default management.

Prior to joining REO Allegiance, Daily served as vice president of National sales for Foreclosure Management Co., a nationwide network of attorneys specializing in default management and loss mitigation for mortgage servicing firms.

He also served as regional director at Accredited Home Lenders, overseeing operations in both default servicing and originations.

 

PENNSYLVANIA

 

HORSHAM

Berkadia Commercial Mortgage said today that Luther Peacock has joined the company as chief risk officer.

Peacock will be based at Berkadia’s New York office and be responsible for evaluating and controlling Berkadia’s risk including credit risk, counterparty risk, interest rate and liquidity risk.

He has more than 20 years of commercial real estate experience, including 11 years working at Morgan Stanley.
