SAN MATEO

Opes Advisors, a wealth management and residential mortgage banking firm, said that mortgage advisor Ed Diaz has joined its San Mateo office.

He has been providing individuals and families with mortgage services for more than 20 years.

Diaz currently serves as president of the National Association of Hispanic Real Estate Associates of San Francisco and is a founding member of both the Bay Area Networking Group and BNI of Mill Valley.

Stearns Lending Inc. said that John Grazer has joined the organization as chief financial officer.

He has over 25 years of executive management experience.

Prior to joining Stearns, Grazer was partner at Grazer and Associates, providing financial consulting, business planning and raising funds for startup companies.

Previous to this, he was executive vice president of capital markets at CITI Residential Lending Inc. and chief financial officer and executive vice president of capital markets at Ameriquest Capital Corp.

WASHINGTON

The Mortgage Bankers Association appointed Brian Hartman as associate vice president of marketing.

In this role, he will help develop, execute and manage MBA's direct marketing programs.

Prior to joining MBA, Hartman spent his career in marketing and business development, including time at Fannie Mae and the Corporate Executive Board.

WASHINGTON

The Office of the Comptroller of the Currency appointed Charles Taylor to oversee the development of capital requirements for national banks.

As the new deputy comptroller for capital and regulatory policy, he will play a key role in formulating and implementing the capital rules involving the Basel Accord and the Dodd-Frank Act.

Taylor previously directed the Financial Reform Project sponsored by the Pew Charitable Trust.

Before that he held leadership positions at the Risk Management Association, Depository Trust and Clearing Corp. and Andersen Consulting.

Walker & Dunlop said that Michelle Warner and Edward Williams have been named co-heads of the company's FHA finance division.

Warner joins the company from Deutsche Bank Berkshire Mortgage while Williams has been promoted into his new role.

Prior to joining Walker & Dunlop, Warner was FHA chief underwriter/program manager for Deutsche Bank Berkshire Mortgage.

Prior to Deutsche Bank, she was vice president at Primary Capital Advisors.

Williams joined Walker & Dunlop in February 2009 as vice president of FHA finance and was subsequently promoted to deputy chief underwriter.

Prior to joining Walker & Dunlop, he was an underwriter at Column Guaranteed, LLC/Credit Suisse.

SNR Denton said that Scott Samlin has joined the firm as a partner in the capital markets practice.

Samlin joins from Morgan Stanley, where he was the executive director for the residential mortgage and lending compliance business.

At Morgan Stanley, he helped oversee the operations of Morgan's whole loan trading desk and its affiliated mortgage loan servicer, Saxon.

Prior to this, Samlin was the executive vice president, general counsel and chief compliance officer for EMC, Bear Stearns' primary mortgage loan servicer.

NEW YORK

Loeb & Loeb LLP said that Peter Seiden and Bryan Petkanics joined the New York office as partners in the commercial finance practice.

Seiden and Petkanics join from LeClairRyan, where they were partners in the firm's New York office, prior to which they were partners at Seiden Wayne LLC.

The pair will be joined by Raymond Dusch, senior counsel, and John Oberdorf III, associate, who also come from LeClairRyan.

Seiden's practice concentrates on representing banks and other financial institutions in loan and commercial transactions.

Petkanics also focuses his practice on the representation of banks and other financial institutions in private banking and commercial lending transactions, including secured and unsecured lending.

Dusch has represented domestic and international financial institutions in all aspects of asset-based financing and equipment leasing for more than 30 years.

Oberdorf focuses his practice on the areas of commercial finance, corporate law, mergers and acquisitions, and intellectual property matters and transactions.

Glimcher Realty Trust appointed Joshua Lindimore to vice president, leasing.

In November 2010, he joined Glimcher as senior director, leasing.

Lindimore was previously with Glimcher as regional leasing manager, and also spent time as a leasing executive with Steiner & Associates.

TEXAS

HOUSTON

The American Bar Association Section of Real Property, Trust & Estate Law reappointed James Gosdin and Bruce Hawley of Stewart Title Guaranty Co. to leadership chair positions for the 2011-2012 bar year.

Gosdin, senior vice president, chief underwriting counsel and chief reinsurance counsel for STG, was reappointed as chair of the Title Insurance and Surveys Committee of the Commercial Real Estate Transactions Group.

Hawley, senior vice president, senior underwriting counsel and multinational title services group manager for STG, was reappointed as chair of the Multifamily Residential Committee of the Residential, Multifamily and Special Use Group.

Gosdin and Hawley served as chairs of their respective committees for the 2010-2011 bar year and vice chairs for the 2009-2010 bar year.

Wallick & Volk added Darren McElroy as its newest Tucson branch manager.

He has been in the mortgage business for over 25 years.

McElroy has managed large production offices and has experience in all facets of mortgage finance.

Previously, he was president of the Southern Arizona Mortgage Lenders Association, as well as president at the state level for the Arizona Mortgage Bankers Association.
