“We are working on a product that is going to be the equivalent of our virtual wallet that will play in the mortgage space,” CEO William Demchak said in discussing the bank’s yearend results with analysts and investors Thursday morning.

“We are pretty excited about it,” he said. “It ought to help with purchase volume.”

During the earnings webcast, the CEO talked about how important it is to increase purchase mortgage originations in 2014.

In the fourth quarter, the Pittsburgh regional bank originated $2.5 billion in single-family loans and 41% were purchase mortgages.

A spokesman for the bank said it was too early to offer any details about the new virtual wallet.
