WASHINGTON — The Senate Banking Committee voted Wednesday to approve the nomination of Pam Patenaude to be the deputy secretary of the Department of Housing and Urban Development.
Her nomination to be the No. 2 at HUD now goes to the full Senate, where she is expected to be confirmed.
Patenaude is president of the J. Ronald Terwilliger Foundation for Housing American Families. She previously served at HUD as the assistant secretary for community, planning and development under President George W. Bush.
The committee members also approved the nomination of Kevin Hassett to serve as the chairman of the Council of Economic Advisers. He is an economist and tax expert at the American Enterprise Institute.
Both nominees were reported favorably out of committee by a voice vote. Sen. Elizabeth Warren, D-Mass., asked to be recorded as a “no” vote on both nominees, according to a committee spokeswoman.
The Trump administration has been slow in appointing and filling key positions at many federal agencies, including HUD.
