National City's warehouse lending chief Paul Best has landed a job with People's United Bank of Connecticut, one of the largest thrifts in the Northeast.
Best will be charged with building and growing People's warehouse group, which will be headquartered in Louisville, Ky., officials familiar with the situation told National Mortgage News.
Early last month NatCity, which is owned by PNC Financial Services, closed its last warehouse line, officially ending the bank's involvement in the sector. At one time NatCity was one of the largest warehouse lenders in the U.S.
Best said he could not comment at this time, but colleagues in the industry identified People's United as his new employer.
He is under contract to PNC until later this year, said a friend of his. (For the full story see this week's edition of National Mortgage News.)
