What I Did Last Week and Why You Should Care

As we move into the fun and chaos of the Christmas holiday week, things are really busy here at Reverse Mortgage Success while we prepare for our launch of RMS 2.0 as well as on the origination side.

Last week I had the opportunity to conduct one of my favorite (and most productive) reverse mortgage marketing strategies. Many of you already know where I'm going with this—you guessed it, I taught a group of Realtors a course on reverse mortgages. And better yet, they got continuing education credit. And even better than that, it cost me zero.

When you provide education such as this, you are suddenly no longer just a loan officer begging for deals. You are the true professional, the expert, sharing your expertise with an audience who is only too willing to listen. And better yet, from this session, I will write loans.

See, once you are viewed as the expert in your field, things change. When you are conducting the class, you are controlling the room, you are directing the conversation. At the end of the class, I received three requests for consultations for the Realtors themselves. And that's just right away. There will be more. These Realtors are now part of my database and they'll hear from me regularly.

I have been using this strategy for years and it works like magic. It's almost too easy. Almost.

Many Reverse Mortgage Success members tell me they rely on it as well; it's one of their "tried and true" methods for generating quality leads.

Consider doing something similar. Offering a continuing education course is just one of the many strategies we teach at Reverse Mortgage Success. How about offering something to the public? Community colleges are always looking for instructors and many courses are geared toward the senior citizen. Ask if your local community college offers a series of courses on "lifelong learning."
