Home Prices Now 10% off June 2006 Peak: Black Knight

Home prices rose slightly in November, but are still down approximately 10% from their peak seen in June 2006, according to Black Knight Financial Services.

The Jacksonville, Fla.-based analytic firm's Home Price Index report revealed values were up 0.1% in November compared to the previous month. Furthermore, home prices have increased 4.5% from last November.

The HPI posted a $241 at the end of November. Last year, this value was $230 and the peak was $268.

Out of the largest 20 states, the biggest year-over-year home price value gains occurred in Texas, Colorado and California, up 8.1%, 7.9% and 6.8%, respectively. Conversely, Connecticut was the only state to experience a home price decline over the last 12 months, down 0.9%.

Additionally, the top metropolitan area performers were dominated by Florida and Texas, accounting for all top 10 of the biggest home price movers Baltimore was the worst performing market with a 0.9% drop in home prices from a year ago.
