Home Prices Rise 6% on Lower End Growth: CoreLogic

Home prices continued their upward climb in June as properties at the lower end experienced higher levels of appreciation, according to CoreLogic.

In June, prices rose by 5.7% year over year and by 1.1% from May, CoreLogic reported Tuesday in its Home Price Index report. For July, prices will increase by 5.3% year over year and 0.6% on a month over month basis, the Irvine, Calif.-based company predicted.

"We see prices continuing to increase at a healthy rate over the next year by as much as 5%," CoreLogic chief executive and president Anand Nallathambi said in a news release.

The states with the largest increase year-over-year were Oregon and Washington, where prices rose 10.9% and 10.3% respectively. Meanwhile, home prices actually fell by 1.7% in Connecticut and by 0.8% in New Jersey from June 2015.
