Home prices rise 1.1% from April to May, according to Black Knight's
The average home price was $251,000, as of the end of the May, Black Knight said. That's 6.5% off the June 2006 peak of $268,000.
New York posted the highest rate of growth from April to May, with home prices there rising 1.8%. Vermont, New Jersey, Connecticut, New Hampshire and Rhode Island tied for second at a rise of 1.6% for each state.
Home prices in California, Florida and Illinois rose 1.1% in each state.
The Jacksonville, Fla., company's Home Price Index represents the price of nondistressed home sales, including as factors price discounts for other real estate owned and short sales.
