Home Prices Rose 5.5% in November: Black Knight

U.S. home prices rose 5.5% in November on a yearly basis, according to Black Knight Financial Services.

The Black Knight home price index climbed to $253,000 in November, according to a Monday news release. The index is based on repeat sales data taken from public records and from Black Knight's mortgage performance data.

Home prices had also climbed by 5.5%, year-over-year, in October.

Prices in New York State rose 0.9%, on a monthly basis, the fastest growth rate among all states. Wisconsin and Utah tied for second at 0.7%, followed by Wyoming at 0.6% and Nevada at 0.5%.

Among all U.S. metro areas, home prices rose the fastest on a monthly basis in Janesville, Wis., increasing 1.4%. Reno, Nev., was second at 0.9%.

Prices in metro New York rose 0.8% from the previous month. The second-largest U.S. metro area, Los Angeles, had a 0.2% price increase. Chicago home prices fell 0.1%. Dallas prices rose 0.6% and Houston home prices rose 0.2%, while Philadelphia home prices fell 0.3% and Washington, D.C., home prices fell 0.1%.
