Robinson’s one-year term will begin at the beginning of 2014, followed by one-year terms each as president-elect, president and immediate past president.

“I am humbled and honored by this opportunity, and I promise to give everything I have to this role,” Robinson said in a written statement. “I’m grateful to everyone who helped me reach this point in my career.”

Robinson has been active in real property appraisal and consulting since 1987 by joining Robinson Associates, a Salisbury, N.C.-based firm started by his father in the mid-1960s. The firm is a general and residential practice that provides appraisals for primary and secondary mortgages, mortgage refinancing, employee relocation, private mortgage insurance removal, estate planning and divorce settlement.

Additionally, Robinson became a licensed real estate broker in 1989 in North Carolina. He has served in all offices of the Appraisal Institute’s North Carolina chapter and has been actively involved at the regional and national levels since 1991, the professional trade association said.

In 2007, Robinson completed a four-year term on the national board of directors and was chair of Region V. Other notable positions Robinson has held for the Appraisal Institute include chair of Residential Experience, chair of Residential Admissions and chair of the Admissions and Designations Qualifications Committee.
