Corr, previously the executive vice president and chief strategy officer of Pleasanton, Calif.-based Ellie Mae, will now oversee all customer-facing functions, including sales and marketing, client implementation, professional services, customer service and technical support, in addition to his former tasks of corporate and product implementation strategy.

Technology operations remain under the purview of chief technology officer and co-founder Limin Hu and Ellie Mae's finance and accounting will continue to be overseen by chief financial officer Ed Luce.

In an exclusive interview with Mortgage Technology Thursday evening, Ellie Mae CEO Sig Anderman credited Corr for devising and executing Ellie Mae's expansion from a point of sale and loan origination system vendor to an end-to-end origination software provider by acquiring document preparation, product and pricing, business intelligence and other ancillary origination technology.

Corr was also a key figure in Ellie Mae's initial public offering in April.

“Before the mortgage implosion, he actually came up with the strategy of focusing on mortgage lenders, rather than being completely focused on mortgage brokers. That was a big strategic move,” Anderman said. “It was his idea to provide a one-stop shop; an end-to-end solution for the technology needs for our customers.”

Ellie Mae's last COO was Joe Langner, who served in that role from Sept. 2005 to Nov. 2009 before transitioning to the role of chief sales officer. Langner left Ellie Mae in October to take an executive vice president position at business management technology provider Sage.

Ellie Mae's August acquisition of loan origination system vendor Del Mar DataTrac included hiring former DMD President Rob Katz as executive vice president of product strategy. Katz has assumed many of Corr's product strategy responsibilities and will continue to report to him.

“At the high level, the overall corporate strategy will remain with the entire executive team, which is me, Jonathan, Limin and Ed and Rob,” Anderman said.

Corr joined Ellie Mae in 2002 as senior vice president of product management until he was promoted to chief strategy officer in 2005. He holds an engineering degree from Columbia University and an MBA from Stanford University. Corr previously worked in various roles at PeopleSoft, Netscape and other technology providers.

“He's been here for nine years, in the prime of his life,” Anderman said. “He's a superstar and he's done a great job for us."
