Mortgage Master, Walpole, Mass., one of the largest privately held nonbank lenders in the Northeast, this week hired industry veteran Don Henig to be its managing director of national sales, officials at the company confirmed to National Mortgage News.
Henig, who officially starts at Mortgage Master Monday, will oversee 250 retail loan officers for a firm that's on track to fund $5 billion in residential loans this year.
Mortgage Master created the position specifically for Henig. His task is to boost sales nationally.
The new managing director is well known in the industry for his days at American Home Mortgage, a once top ranked lender based in Melville, N.Y.
Back in 1987 Henig founded the New York Association of Mortgage Brokers, and during his career also headed the National Association of Mortgage Brokers.
At American Home Henig served as president of third-party lending, overseeing correspondent, wholesale, and Internet lending. During the nation's real estate implosion American Home ran into financial trouble and eventually closed its doors. Its servicing platform was sold to investor Wilbur Ross.
Henig began his career in retail lending. (For more details see the Monday paper edition of NMN.)
