Castle & Cooke Mortgage has created a consumer-direct lending unit whose primary focus is retaining current servicing clients.
Matthew Keyworth, who joined the company in late 2016 as managing director of consumer-direct sales, is leading the effort. Most recently, he was vice president of retail sales and channel management for Penny Mac.
"Matthew's experience in mortgage servicing portfolio defense and his familiarity working with multiple departments to improve business processes and ensure an optimal customer experience made him the ideal choice to lead our consumer direct team," Castle & Cooke President and COO Adam Thorpe said in a press release.
The consumer-direct team will work out of Castle & Cooke's Draper, Utah, headquarters.
Besides portfolio retention, having a consumer-direct team will allow Castle & Cooke to take advantage of marketing opportunities that it previously not had sufficient resources to pursue, the company said.
The unit will also originate mortgages for the company's internal employee loan program.
