Radian Guaranty Inc.’s inventory of delinquent mortgage loans declined by less than 1% in September, after seeing approximately 15% of the loans being
August’s data included the effects of a settlement reached with Freddie Mac.
The inventory started at 65,427 loans and new notices of delinquency added another 5,073. Reversals of rescissions and denial added another 93 loans. There were 3,999 cures and 1,355 paid claims, for a net reduction of 188 loans to 65,239.
Meanwhile, new insurance written continues to trend downward at Radian. In September, it wrote $3.83 billion. Two months ago, it had its best month ever at $5.29 billion. For August that fell to $4.67 billion.
Mortgage Guaranty Insurance Corp. had $2.5 billion of NIW in September, down from $2.9 billion in August. Its inventory of delinquent loans declined by 1,741 loans in September.
There were 9,133 new notices of delinquency, offset by 7,940 cures; paid claims on 2,767 loans; and rescission or denial of coverage on 167 loans. At the end of the month, there were 111,587 loans in the inventory.
