• Vacation—Some of us are very bad at taking vacations. We simply don’t do it. Then we burn out at work.
You’ve got to have at least a few solid weeks of vacation a year to let your mind rest, preferably one week per quarter. It doesn’t have to be anything expensive. The key is simply giving your brain and body a chance rest and recharge and to be around scenery other than staring at your computer screen and out your office window.
• Enjoying life—This is not one of those lists where you only eat food that tastes like cardboard, always have to skip dessert, exercise yourself to death and you live in a bubble with purified air and distilled water.
In fact, I am suggesting the opposite. Enjoy rich foods, but in moderation. Have decadent desserts, just not every night, etc. If you love fried chicken, treat yourself to it once a month.
As long as you’re doing your regular cardio, some form of stretching/yoga, and you’re generally eating well, you’ll be just fine.
• Accountability—Even if you think these are good ideas and want to follow them, who is holding you accountable? Only you.
If you’re really serious about improving your health and your business, set a daily reminder in your cell phone or your email with little reminders throughout the week. (For your information, Yahoo email will send you text messages with reminders)
Have you been drinking enough water? Did you get your exercise? Are you eating the right foods, etc. You may choose to ignore them, but those that are genuinely interested won’t ignore them.
