The 2026 consolidation wave picked up noticeable steam this month, and four new deals this week alone illustrate how far the merger-and-acquisition trend has extended to businesses across the entire home finance spectrum.

With a steady stream of deals announced from week one this year, the M&A trend continues unabated in the summer of 2026, with the latest news coming from technology, appraisal and mortgage brokerage businesses. They arrive just days following agreements involving real estate investment trusts, homebuilders and retail lenders.

The pace of mergers looks unlikely to subside in the near term, with a pending servicer acquisition looming on the horizon, according to the CEO of the likely acquirer.

Here is the latest news on the M&A front.

Truework parent boosts mortgage capabilities with Truv deal

Checkr, the parent company of employment and income verification mortgage platform Truework and similar tools serving other financial segments, announced it reached a deal to acquire Truv. Checkr leaders noted how the peer platform's ability to directly connect to payroll providers and banks instead of through integrations complemented existing Truework services.

The deal now opens the door for the company to verify assets alongside wages and employment. The Truv platform also represents a safeguard against artificial intelligence threats and elevates Checkr's presence in home lending, executives said.

"In an AI world, human verifications have become essential to nearly every industry, but too often it's fragmented across different systems and providers," said Daniel Yanisse, co-founder and CEO of Checkr, in a press release. "Our vision is to build a single platform that helps businesses, government agencies and individuals navigate those moments with greater accuracy, speed, confidence and trust."

Financial terms of the deal were not disclosed.

The merger further brings with it the ability for Checkr to verify federal or state benefits, with Truv's platform now allowing it to connect to data held at government agencies.

"Together, we'll bring trusted, accurate data to more organizations while creating better experiences for the people whose lives are impacted by these high-stakes decisions," Truv co-founder and CEO Kirill Klokov said.

Mortgage brokers GoRascal, Matador Lending unite

Independent mortgage brokers GoRascal and Houston-based Matador Lending are merging in a deal that unifies two companies with similar flat-fee broker models.

It also significantly expands the customer base for the former in Texas, while Matador originators gain access to a GoRascal platform that touches all 50 states.

"This partnership brings together two organizations that believe loan officers deserve more than a place to hang their license — they deserve a platform that helps them build lasting businesses," said GoRascal Co-Founder and CEO Scott Valins in a press release.

The Brooklyn, New York-based lending firm counts more than 400 loan originators within its network and produced more than $3.7 billion in residential mortgages last year, it said.

Matador and its 50 originators will operate as a unit of GoRascal but maintain their existing branding. Financial terms of the deal were not disclosed.

"GoRascal's slogan — the happiest home for loan officers — aligned perfectly with the core values we live by at Matador," said Apurva Sanghavi, president of the latter brokerage. "After vetting many suitors, GoRascal was the clear answer to partner with."

With the deal, Matador executives are now setting an ambitious goal of $1 billion in annual production within its Texas home base.

Class Valuation purchases long-standing appraisal firm

Real estate appraisal management company Class Valuation announced a merger with one of its longest continuously operating peers.

The merger between Class Valuation and Illinois-based Allstate Appraisal, which first opened its doors in 1959, makes a range of digital tools available to the latter.

"By combining Allstate Appraisal's expertise with Class Valuation's technology and infrastructure, we can provide clients with broader solutions while maintaining the high standards that have defined Allstate for more than 60 years," Class Valuation CEO John Fraas said in a press release.

"Its experienced team, diversified valuation capabilities and commitment to excellence align closely with our vision for the future of valuation," Fraas added.

Allstate will continue to conduct business with its own team, it said. Financial terms were not disclosed.

"Allstate Appraisal's success has always been built on the strength of our people, our commitment to quality and the relationships we have developed with our clients over decades," said the appraisal firm's President Steven Albert.

Atlas VMS acquires Texas' First Appraisal Management

In another similar tech-focused industry deal, valuations firm Atlas VMS said it reached an agreement to acquire Texas-based First Appraisal Management.

The transaction merges the real estate home appraisal platform with a firm that has strong regional knowledge and an established history of serving lenders and brokers in the Lone Star State.

"This is about bringing together strong local relationships and expertise with the technology, resources and national reach to serve our clients even better," said Atlas CEO Erik Morin.

Per terms of the agreement, Atlas appointed First Appraisal Managing Partner Nicole Bookout as executive vice president of appraisal solutions, putting her in charge of valuation-related operations across the company. Other deal terms were not disclosed.

"Our team has always focused on doing right by our clients and our appraiser panel, and that doesn't change," Bookout said. "Joining Atlas VMS gives us the platform and resources to support that work at a larger scale, while keeping the local, hands-on approach clients already count on."

With the acquisition, former FAM business clients now receive the benefits of Atlas VMS' appraisal warranty program and gain access to its order management platform.
