ICON Residential, Irvine, Calif., has hired MetLife veteran James Matarazzo as area sales manager for wholesale, covering the Southeast.
At MetLife Home Loans Matarazzo was regional sales manager, covering the same territory. A handful of former MetLife workers followed him over to ICON.
The bank-owned ICON hopes to expand into new markets and focus on HARP 2.0 refinancings, according to officials close to the company.
Earlier this year MetLife, the insurance company parent, shuttered its entire residential production operation, cutting roughly 4,200 workers in the process. Several hundred have been hired by other mortgage lenders including HomeStreet, Caliber Funding, ICON, and others.
During his career, Matarazzo has worked for NYCB Mortgage Co., and America's Mortgage Professionals.
