Average new-home prices increased in four major Texas markets in September, with prices edging up 0.7% to $357,364 in the Houston area, according to a new report by Dallas-based HomesUSA.com.
The HomesUSA.com New Homes Sales Index tracks a 12-month rolling average for new homes listed in the local Multiple Listing Services for the Houston, Dallas-Fort Worth, Austin and San Antonio markets.
The September average in Houston represents a $2,526 rise from $354,838 in August, HomesUSA.com said. Statewide, the average rose to $355,821 in September from $353,668 in August.

"Houston builders have to be pleased that the market is strong enough that we are seeing an uptick in the average new-home price," HomesUSA.com founder Ben Caballero said in a statement. "Houston overall remains strong when it comes to new-home sales."
New-home prices rose to $371,985 in Dallas in September, up from $369,283 in August. The average new-home price in Austin hit $368,125, up from $366,435 in August. New homes averaged $294,483 in San Antonio, up from $294,154 in August.
The volume of home sales reached 3,800 across the four cities, up from 3,790 in August. New-home sales in the Houston area held steady at 1,277, down from 1,278 in August. The Dallas-Fort Worth market sold the most with 1,339 new-home sales in September, up from 1,333 for August. Home sales rose slightly in Austin and San Antonio to 668 and 516, respectively.
HomesUSA.com lists and sells houses for more than 60 homebuilders in Texas. Cabellero has sold more than $1 billion in residential properties annually since 2015.
